Writing Teen Romance

From the quote desk

Trust the wisdom of heart. – Chinese Proverb For those of you that know me personally, you’ll get the double entendre of this post title. For those of you not in the know, you’ll just have to subscribe to my blog to find out. All kidding aside, I’m an author by night, but by day I work in healthcare IT. Things in my work world have been wacky for several months. Then yesterday this news came out: Siemens sells hospital IT business to Cerner for $1.3 billion. Yup! I work for one of the

How to combat #TDF withdrawal

Today is a sad day. It’s the first day since July 5th I don’t have four hours of the Tour de France to watch. It’s the first day I won’t be checking Tour Tracker to get behind the scenes info on the race and perhaps the worst part is - no more daily Backstage Pass videos from the guys at Orica Green Edge. What’s the perfect cure for post-TDF depression? Chocolate. And lucky for all of us TDF junkies, today is National Milk Chocolate Day. Not that I (or my fellow cycling enthusiasts) need a

Quotable on writing

I write to give myself strength. I write to be the characters that I am not. I write to explore all the things I'm afraid of. ― Joss Whedon “I write, therefore I am…” Cheesy, but true. And if you look very closely at the photo above, you’ll see rough drafted scenes from my latest novel.

July 14 is not just ANY day…

Today the French commemorate the storming of the Bastille and the start of the French Revolution with La Fête Nationale, or what those of us in America call Bastille Day. My first visit to Paris missed La Fête Nationale by a week, which I’m still kind of bummed about because from what I hear, it’s quite the party that starts off in the morning with a military parade on the Champs-Elysées and the evening is capped off with a massive fireworks display. Sadly, I’m not spending July 14th in Paris,

Rambling About: The Third Lap

Most Wednesday nights, our running group meets at the high school track for #WorkoutWednesday. I haven’t consistently worked out on the track in years and I just love stepping onto the spongy all-weather track and the scent of sun-baked rubber floating in the air. (Did you know synthetic rubber tracks are also called tartan tracks? Gotta love the pseudo reference to Scotland!!) It brings back fond memories of killer track workouts at Villanova. Sometimes I swear our coach was trying to kill us.

I See London…

Don’t I wish! I have been watching the first three stages of the Tour de France, so have gotten to see a lot of gorgeous England and today they finished Stage 3 in front of Buckingham Palace. But this post is not about the TDF or about London. It’s about me getting to ride in the Press Truck for the 45th AJC Peachtree Road Race. My job – spotting the elite women for the live television coverage of the race. If you aren’t from Atlanta, you might not know that with its 60,000 participants, the
